DOWNTOWN. The Camera 3 Cinema is at the heart of San Jose's film scene. This downtown movie theatre frequently shows indie, art, and foreign films. Next door is the Camera Café, which is a good place to enjoy a light pre-performance meal. Most of the Camera Café's dishes borrow their names from Hollywood films, for example the vegetarian "Naked Lunch" or their tuna sandwich, the "Passion Fish." The café also serves a terrific selection of desserts and coffee.

DOWNTOWN. HP Pavilion at San Jose, also known as the "Shark Tank," is home to the city's NHL franchise, the Sharks. The arena also plays host to other sporting events, including both professional and collegiate basketball games and arena football matches. Furthermore, the multipurpose complex frequently schedules major concerts. Past performers have included the Rolling Stones, Garth Brooks, and Bob Dylan.

The San Jose Repertory Theatre has been a part of the city's arts and culture scene for more than 20 years. The theatre, an interesting-looking blue structure, hosts a wide range of productions each season, including children's theatre and international performances. "The Rep" also hosts classes, workshops, and a few annual events like the New American Playwrights Festival.

DOWNTOWN. This 200-seat theatre is located downtown in an area of San Jose known as the Theatre District. The theatre tends to eschew high-profile shows, opting instead for lesser-known contemporary gems like 1998's "Cumberland Blues." The San Jose Stage also hosts an annual art series.
